Felt inspired by the marketing of Cloverfield to do this little piece. VERY happy with it myself.
Download for highres goodness! It's worth it!
Oh, I pulled the SoL and Woolworth pictures from Google, and then used references from the trailers and other clips to come to calculate it's size, which should be somewhere near what's in the image.
Also, the Mr. Grumpy Pants bit is the nickname that was given to it by the guys of Unfiction: [link]
while The Parasite is the first name we've heard of it.
UPDATE- Since it's hard to see in the non-highres version: here are the notes on the creature.
The Monster, aka The Parasite / Mister Grumpy Pants
-Acquatic creature (covered with algeas, seaweed, ocean life (barnacles, seastars, crustaceans), whale/squid/crustacean hybrid (assimilated other creatures?)
-Lower jaw splits in half like a snake, revealing dozens of tongues that, when used all at once, can tear down small buildings or create giant exploding fireballs by mixing gas with the napalm from special glands
-Rapid healing abilities, making it virtually indestructible
-Has some kind of hivemind with the smaller, fully grown parasites
-Is very intelligent, it learns quickly (as demonstrated in army tactics that proved to be ineffective after being used once or twice depending on the damage and complexity)
-The arms have 6 claws each: Three small ones on a articulated hand and three large rigid ones
"Tongues" (feelers with eyes, claws and napalmglands)
